Mission and Profile
Anne has over 25 years of experience teaching piano, music history, and theory in both private lesson and school settings, and over 20 years of experience directing choirs. She has bachelor’s and master’s degrees in piano performance, as well as training in the Suzuki method and a variety of pedagogical approaches.
Drawing on her college studies, continuing education classes, and years of experience teaching students of all ages and backgrounds, Anne blends the best of several methods to create a unique program suited to each student. Expect to be challenged but to enjoy the process!
Learning piano is not only about mastering the instrument, but also about developing a complete understanding of music, training the mind, bringing added joy and beauty into one’s life, and fostering creativity. Anne’s former students have gone on to study music (piano, composition, musical theatre, voice) in college and develop successful careers.
Inspiration
Recently, my Aunt turned 100 years old and I was overjoyed to be present to celebrate with her! She was my first piano teacher, and I owe her a debt of gratitude for the richness she brought to my life. She was a lifelong explorer and learner, and she even picked up the viola at age 94! I strive to pass on this same kind of lifelong love for music to all of my students.
